Haven House Adopt-A-Child for Back to School 2008 (now completed)
|
Every fall Haven House has a program to provide new school clothes and supplies for the children who have lived at Haven House this past year. You may have happy memories (and photographs) of children in your family smiling and excited for school to begin and proud of their new outfits and school paraphernalia. You can help provide happy memories for the children who have lived at Haven House this past year. Their families have very limited incomes. By the time housing, food and utility costs are paid there is little left for extras like new school clothes. The Adopt-A-Child for Back to School 2008 program matches current and former resident children with sponsors. The sponsors purchase a new school outfit and school supplies for the children.

Haven House wishes to thank the community for sponsoring more than 50 children and making Adopt A Child for Back to School program a success. This program matched current and past resident families with groups or individuals willing to purchase school clothing and supplies.
With ever increasing housing, food and utility costs, low income families have little money for needed items such as school supplies and clothes. Adopt-A-Child helped provide these necessities and made the first day of school special.

Haven House chosen as the recipient of the 2007 Reichle Award
Walter J. Reichle, long time owner/operator of McDonald's restaurants in the Grand Rapids area, left a bequest to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Outstate Michigan. In memory of Walter Reichle, the Reichle Award was created by RMHC to be be given to a recipient of an RMHC grant. This year Haven House received its second RMHC grant, to support our enrichment program for children staying at Haven House. In addition, we were selected to receive the 2007 Reichle Award, a cash conribution that we will put to good use. On February 27th representatives of the Reichle family and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Outstate Michigan visited Haven House to see us in action and to present a plaque and a check to Angie Mayeaux, Executive Director of Haven House. We are proud to have our work recognized in this way, and to receive vitally needed support for our programs.
