Benefit Concert a Big Success!!
Matthew Oelson, an MSU student who volunteered at Haven House on MLK Day, was so impressed by what he saw that day that he decided he wanted to do more for Haven House.  Because he is a musician, he decided to organize a benefit concert at Martin Luther Chapel in East Lansing on May 30, 2009.  It was a remarkable event!

The music ranged from Mahler to Bach to folk songs.  He assembled a small orchestral ensemble, a choral group, an improvisational pianist, and a folk group, all either friends of Matthew from the MSU College of Music or from his undergraduate days at St. Olaf's College in Minnesota.  Those who attended enjoyed beautiful music with an audience that was very appreciative of both the music and the efforts of Haven House to serve the homeless.  Haven House received more than $1200 in contributions from those who attended.  Thank you to Matthew and all of the musicians and the people who helped them, as well as to those who attended and contributed.

The folk group...less formal but equally committed.
