Adopt-a-Child for Back-to-School ...
a great way to help families prepare for the upcoming school year!
Haven House has hosted our Adopt-a-Child for Back-to-School program for 30 years providing school-age children who exit our shelter with new clothes for the start of the school year. Donors can select a child from the list below.
Each child’s wish list is linked to their name, so you can download their list to your device right away! Each form will list their age, grade, gender, clothing sizes and preferences, and their name if a parent gives permission. Donors generally spend at least $150 per child.
How Adopt-a-Child for Back-to-School Works
Once you have selected a child, please email the child # to the Volunteer & Projects Manager so they can be removed from the list, and we can keep track of children still in need.
Do not begin shopping for your child until you receive an email response in case the child you have selected was adopted and the list is in the process of being updated.
Please be sure all clothing items are new with tags, and the name of the child is attached to each item and/or the bags you place them in. When you are finished shopping, please contact the Volunteer & Projects Manager to schedule a drop off at Haven House during regular business hours.

*All children have been adopted and we thank all our donors for helping make this year bright for deserving children. Our Adopt-a-Family for Christmas program begins in October. Look for details in the next few months on how to make the holidays special for a family in need!*
The drop-off window for Adopt-a-Child is between now until Thursday, August 20.

A bad hair day could negatively impact someone’s day. Our Adopt-a-Child for Back-to-School program ensures children in need have new clothes and shoes to start the school year in style, but it isn’t just about the clothes. Confidence is from head to toe!
Haven House has an ongoing need for ethnic hair care products, and these can be found on our Amazon Wishlist and ships straight to our door. These can also be dropped off at our shelter by scheduling an in-person appointment at 517-348-0694.
